Abstract | "In their book Serving Educational Equity, authors Sonya Murray and Gwendolyn Y. Turner present a five-phase framework designed to help practitioners reimagine education for all students using an accelerated learning approach instead of traditional remediation. Murray and Turner's framework promotes bold and different thinking about unfinished learning, equity, and student success. Each phase presents theoretical background information, strategies for organizing and planning, techniques for promoting productive instructional strategies, and classroom practices and approaches that embrace equity and diversity, assessments such as checklists and surveys to analyze progress, and resources for implementing accelerated learning. Each phase also includes vignettes that demonstrate how the techniques, methods, and strategies can be used in content-specific classrooms as well as whole school activities. This structure offers leaders and teachers a simple roadmap to accelerate all students' learning as a matter of equity"--Provided by publisher. |
