Abstract | "This practical manual provides face-to-face and/or virtual strategies for teachers to use as they prepare and motivate their students. Students need well-developed executive functions skills as prerequisites to learn content or self-regulate appropriate social interactions. These executive function skills are the necessary everyday life skills one needs to successfully interact with the environment in a variety of settings. Metacognitive strategies explicitly taught provide students the tools to engage and benefit from classroom instruction through use of a learned executive function skill set. This book includes strategies shown most effective in facilitating students' readiness and success in learning. Each group of 25 grade appropriate executive function strategies address student difficulties in areas such as planning, working memory, time management, inhibitory behavior, cognitive flexibility, and self-regulation. The strategies are grouped according to elementary, middle, and high school to ensure the book is applicable to students of all ages and abilities"--Provided by publisher. |
