Abstract | Alden Library began redesigning its website over a year ago. Throughout the redesign process the students, faculty, and staff that make up the user base were added to the conversation by utilizing several usability test methods. This article focuses on the usability testing conducted at Alden Library and delves into future usability testing, which will utilize several different types of usability testing software. Usability testing can provide valuable insight into how users interact with a website, insight which can then be used to improve the overall user experience. Adding students, faculty, and staff into the website design process through usability testing will most likely result in a better designed website, which will aid rather than hinder students, faculty, and staff in their learning, research, and teaching endeavors.
