AbstractBased on the author's experience, he has learned that one way to obtain insight into student perceptions is to talk with the students outside the classroom. While course evaluations are helpful, they are limited by the questions being asked and the lack of dialogue that could clarify responses or bring out points not immediately addressed. Reflecting on the end-of-the-year annual student-faculty dinners held in the author's campus, he thought that a short series of discussions could give them deeper insight into student perceptions. In this article, the author discusses how to enhance teaching and learning through student-faculty dialogues. Engaging in a series of student-faculty discussions that highlight student perspectives on their own learning and faculty views on teaching provides opportunities for students and faculty to learn from one another and thereby enhance both teaching and learning.
