Abstract	Vallivue School District, located about 20 minutes from Boise, Idaho, can trace its origins to 13 rural schools scattered throughout Canyon County. The schools served students from kindergarten through eighth grade, and each building was independently administered by local school boards. Those boards were consolidated into a single district in 1961, setting the stage for the 1963 opening of Vallivue Junior-Senior High School, which served grades 6-12. Today, the Vallivue district maintains six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and two alternative secondary schools. It covers 143 square miles, and school buses travel more than 1,400 miles daily. In 1997, a new high school was constructed at a different site, and Vallivue Middle School took over several buildings on the original campus. After three years of targeted restructuring at Vallivue, both the school-based staff and the entire school community felt a profound sense of satisfaction. Their efforts resulted in Vallivue achieving AYP for the first time in 2010, and more importantly, the restructure had a positive effect on students' behavior, sense of belonging, and achievement. Although the Idaho State Board of Education moved Vallivue from "needs improvement" to "new school" status in August 2010, the staff and the community know that as long as there are new Vallivue students to educate, their work isn't finished.
