Abstract | The "14 Characteristics of Effective Health Education Curricula" identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Adolescent and School Health promote teaching ideas designed to personalize information and engage students through activities which are both student centered and interactive. Effective health education efforts should focus on building personal confidence and competence in dealing with social situations. This teaching technique aims to improve interpersonal relationships by utilizing engaging, interactive, and student-centered learning activities. Written by Derek Munson and Illustrated by Tara Calahan King, "Enemy Pie" is a children's book that delivers a "clever tale with an effective message about how to handle relationships and conflict."
