Abstract | In May 2011, the Council for Professional Recognition and the contemporary ballet troupe the Trey McIntyre Project (TMP) combined their passion for community outreach by bringing TMP dancers to perform for young children who are hospitalized in the Washington, D.C., area. The Council for Professional Recognition, which administers the Child Development Associate (CDA) National Credentialing Program, believes in supporting children and early childhood educators and caregivers. This support includes a focus on children's health and wellness that is expressed, in part, through the sponsorship of outreach to the community. In this article, the author describes how dance brings joy to hospitalized young children and talks about the community outreach with the Council for Professional Recognition and the Trey McIntyre Project.
