| Abstract | In this article, the author shares how she created a mini international conference of like-minded peers. Many freelance Teaching Artists feel isolated from a lack of peer contact in their work. That feeling was relieved last spring when the author received two similar e-mails sent, respectively, from 3,000 miles away to the east and to the west. Each was from a dancer/teacher who had read her book, "Minds in Motion," and wanted to meet her. A thrill ran through the author as she realized that she had reached out in print to colleagues thousands of miles away, and they had reached back to her. So the seeds were planted for a small, "international," one-day conference of dance Teaching Artists in New Paltz New York. (ERIC). |
