AbstractWith the advent of twenty-four-hour news media, local, state, and national agencies' warnings and with the explosive role of the Internet, people are more aware of global health concerns that may have significant consequences for the world's population. As international travel continues to increase, health care professionals around the world are likely to see a more diverse patient population and a variety of diseases and health care issues. The impact of globalization on health care is not restricted to the domains of international authorities, government officials, health care institutions, or health care professionals. Adult educators can play a significant role in the health of the world's populations as well. There are a variety of opportunities and ways for adult educators to participate in global health issues, education, and research. This chapter offers a look at the impact of globalization on health, describes some important determinants of global health, and examines the migration of health care professionals to handle global health care concerns. Finally, it considers the diverse ways and settings in which adult educators can assist and contribute to global health discussion, improvement, and education. (ERIC).
