Abstract | The purpose of this paper is to provide the higher education community with information about the Federal Graduation Rate (FGR), the Academic Progress Rate (APR), and the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) to assist in developing sound institutional policy. First, relevant background information is provided to clarify the context underlying the development of the measures. Next, an illustration is presented that shows how FGR, APR, and GSR are computed and what they measure, followed by a discussion of the appropriate uses and potential misuses of each metric. Finally, important policy implications of using the NCAA metrics are discussed. (Contains 2 tables.) (ERIC). |
