AbstractTrained peer review, as illustrated in a plethora of peer review or peer response scholarship, has a positive effect on students' writing in general and on improved revision quality in particular (Berg, 1999; Hu, 2005; Min, 2006; Paulus, 1999; Stanley, 1992). From these studies, it is evident that trained peer feedback does have a significant role to play in helping to improve students' interim and final drafts. Inspired by Min's (2006) and Berg's (1999) studies, the author illustrates how he planned and organized a training workshop for a group of 30 university freshmen non-English majors to help them analyze the effectiveness of peer feedback according to its area (i.e., local or global), nature (i.e., revision-oriented or non-revision-oriented), and type (i.e., evaluation, clarification, suggestion, or alteration). The recommended training approach aims to raise students' consciousness through analyzing the effectiveness of their peer feedback and evaluating the extent to which peers' comments are incorporated into their subsequent revisions.
