Abstract | This article presents an interview with Wes Taylor, the 2011 MetLife/NASSP National High School Principal of the Year. In this interview, Taylor shares credit with the teachers and staff members at Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia, for the school's systemic and long-lasting improvement in instruction and climate. He mentions that the positive changes at Lowndes High School in the last seven years stem from deep-rooted transformations in attitudes and procedures that now resonate among their faculty and staff because of their collaborative problem-solving practices. He says that there are no shortcuts to turning a school around, but the work and dedication of the teachers should not go unnoticed. Their school administrators promote positive attitudes and reinforce values on a consistent basis. (ERIC). |
