Abstract | It is essential that preservice teachers and language learners understand why creativity is important and how creative thinking skills might be enhanced during language and content study. It is equally important that learners be given opportunities to express themselves creatively and that they are supported in doing so. To meet these goals, teacher education students must have practice working with English language learners around creativity. This is important even for preservice teachers who lack local access to ESL students. This exploration, part of a larger study of language, creativity, and computer-mediated communication, describes the opportunities for preservice teachers to learn about student creativity and language use that an online field experience supported.
