Abstract | The article examines a group format for promoting Hispanic students' transition from community colleges to university colleges of education. Students were exposed to Hispanic role models, did extensive writing, and participated in reflective discourse within large and small groups during the six-week summer program. All students successfully transitioned from the community college into the university and persisted through their junior year. The program was funded by a U.S. Department of Education, Title V grant to a Hispanic Serving community college that partnered with a university offering the second two years for the degree.
