AbstractHow does one count the most organic and authentic moments where an adult educator helped facilitate a learner's epiphany? One minute all the letters on the blackboard seemed jumbled and the words were unidentifiable, and then suddenly, with a blink of an eye, all of the letters now make words that have meaning and enter the mind to make deeper meaning. It is in the practice where invaluable epiphanies are born. These are moments that are so intellectually and sometimes emotionally intimate that there is no need for an audience to give one a standing ovation despite the vastness of the discovery just made. As an adult educator, the author thinks helping someone come to learn about anything, including themselves is an epiphany. Those illuminating moments of discovery are where she, as an adult educator, finds meaning. However, as a relatively new adult education scholar and proud practitioner, how does one translate those sacred moments when one helps someone come to her or his own revelations or understanding through writing? It seems that attempting to translate and communicate those moments where the author knows she is serving in the role of guide, co-learner, motivator, and/or teacher lessens the sanctity of the experience. In this article, the author describes how she supported her husband as he undertook the challenge of completing his undergraduate education as a mature student. (ERIC).
