Abstract | These are demanding times for America and for nations around the world. Today, as at no time in recent history, everyone is experiencing massive, often-tumultuous changes that are transforming one's society economically, politically, and socially. As ongoing debates about these and other factors continue to redefine the world, America's education system must grow stronger as the nation strives to maintain its leadership role in a global society. Teacher education programs will be called on to ensure that teachers can educate future generations to be able to respond to these and other global social, political, and economic challenges. This article discusses some of the major challenges faced by teacher education in an increasingly global society. (ERIC). |
