AbstractIn this article, the authors provide an overview of what can be expected at the AASL 14th National Conference and Exhibition. The Conference Committee and AASL staff have focused on designing a conference to help all school library media specialists with the implementation of the new standards, raising the level of learning in school library media programs and addressing the needs of a new generation of students. The conference committee chairs have been hard at work planning new and exciting programming, inviting significant and timely authors, and creating a technology experience that is transparent and interactive like no other conference before. Charlotte 2009 promises to provide school library media professionals with thought-provoking sessions; discussions with colleagues and friends, both in person and virtually; time to investigate new materials and resources in the Exhibit Hall; and the opportunity to get "rev'ed up" with a big dose of energy that will reinvigorate them and their program. A whirlwind of opportunities await participants during the four short days--pre-conference workshops, general session speakers, Exploratorium, author events, concurrent sessions, Exhibit Hall, and much more.
