AbstractThe best lesson ideas often derive from childhood recollections. When brought to class, play memories and art mementos from the teacher's childhood paint a powerful homage to children's art. A survey of a child's room in the dark, or with lights on, discloses interesting hanging sites, means of attachment and unusual items drafted for hanging, all useful clues for the advancement of the "hanging arts" in school. Every child's room is a hang-it-up artist's birthplace, ready to be noticed and promoted by school art activities. Art rooms can be prepared for hang-it-up artists. Students who hang art can work in indoor labs or survey many outdoor armatures. The school gym, with its many hanging apparatuses, can also be an exciting place to introduce the hanging arts. As artists of hanging forms, kids inventions have yet to be named and classified. Art media should be approached not as school art, not as adult art, not as known art, but as something new to be discovered. Artists who hang finds and creations need studios, places to shop for materials and ideas, recognition and reminders of their many related play experiences. Then they can be set free to discover what hanging art of still and moving forms could be. (ERIC).
