Abstract | This study assessed the differences in educational aspirations and educational anticipations between four groups (AVID, GEAR UP, AVID/GEAR UP, and Control) of high school seniors who participated in a previous study as 10th graders (Watt, Huerta, & Lozano, 2007). It also measured whether any change in aspirations and anticipations occurred within the four groups in the time between 10th grade and 12th grade and identified indicators of college preparedness achieved by the four participant groups. Findings indicated no differences in educational aspirations between the four groups but significant differences in educational anticipations between the four participant groups in the 12th grade, and a change in anticipations occurred between 10th and 12th grade. Findings also indicated that students participating in the intervention programs maintained high aspirations and anticipations for college and were prepared for college due to the rigor provided by AVID and GEAR UP.
