Abstract | A Computer Based Education (CBE) program for intervention mathematics was developed, used, and modified over a period of three years in a computer lab at an Arizona Title I middle school. The program is described along with a rationale for the need, design, and use of such a program. Data was collected in the third year and results of the program analyzed. Pre and post-tests, Galileo Math Benchmarks and Arizona state AIMS math results were used as outcome measures to test for efficacy of the grade level experimental groups compared to similar control groups based on the previous year's AIMS test scores as control measures. Large effect sizes were measured for all grade levels on all outcome measures. The results were statistically significant. Control cohorts made no statistically significant gains on any of the outcome measures. (Contains 5 figures.) (As Provided). |
