Abstract | Founded in 1983, the Center for Gifted at National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois "www.thecenterforgifted.com/" offers outside-of-school classes for bright children. Through its 15 programs in 10 Chicago suburbs, the Center now serves more than 3000 talented young people in pre-kindergarten through 10th grades. Although not required, most students rank in the upper 95th percentile on standardized tests. Applicants are requested to submit teacher recommendations assessing the student's special gifts, abilities, exceptional achievements, and any other evidence of talent. This article offers a brief overview of programs offered by the Center for Gifted. (ERIC). |
