Abstract | This chapter suggests further ways that Practice Theory can be applied to understanding language teaching and learning. In particular, the author contends that more work is needed to describe the configuration of discursive resources in practices in foreign language communities in order to design effective pedagogies and assessments. In addition, a critical approach to identifying and understanding the power relations inherent in practices, and work to connect theories of second language (L2) cognition and theories of context are also needed.
