Abstract | This article presents an interview with Judith Warren Little, the Carol Liu Professor of Education Policy at the Graduate School of Education, University of California, Berkeley. She is a sociologist whose research and teaching interests focus on the organizational and policy contexts of teaching and teacher learning. She concentrates especially on the nature of teachers' professional community and its relationship to teacher development and school reform, investigating how teachers' interactions with one another in workplace settings and in formal professional development contexts supply resources for teacher learning and the improvement of practice. Little is an elected member of the National Academy of Education. Before joining the faculty at Berkeley, Little was the senior program director at Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development (now WestEd). (ERIC). |
