Abstract | This issue of "Stepping into the Classroom" reaches the broad ends of the spectrum of experience to showcase two authors who have worked hard to learn from personal experience and translate ideas into practice. Greg Van Nest, a veteran teacher of six years, had gone to many national conferences, but in Nashville in 2006, he came away knowing he needed to do something more with his class's journaling practices. In a moment of clarity, he found a way to invigorate his students' daily journaling and eventually found great success. Robert Zimbroff, a high school senior, embarked on a wonderful journey into literature and came away with a deeper appreciation of it. This remarkable student will be given the chance to teach a sophomore English class in 2007 and will use his personal experience to enrich the learning of others. (ERIC). |
