Abstract | The process of art-making is integral to the development of a child's fine motor skills, coordination, and concentration. Therefore, creating an ongoing project one or two weeks in length can benefit both teacher and students. The teacher can assess the children's skills by observing the way they handle materials. Also, after spending valuable time preparing for a lesson, the pressure of having to complete an art project in one class is relieved. Children learn a positive message to take their time and to finish what they started. In this article, introduces an activity which encourages children to further develop their fine motor skills, gain organizational skills, and enhance their sensory experiences. Over three classes, children produce personal fall books, folded accordion-style. (Contains 1 online resource.) (ERIC). |
