Abstract | Although Mr. Murphy challenges the negative stereotypes commonly associated with schools of education, he agrees with the critics of programs that educate school administrators. In introducing this special section, for which he served as guest editor, he expresses his hope that the articles to follow can move us beyond the criticism and stimulate reforms in the preparation of school leaders.
