Abstract | While learning is often designed and executed as if it stood alone, it rarely exists in isolation. If more than one learning event is offered, a relationship between units exists and should be defined. This relationship calls for an architecture of curriculum that defines audience, content, and delivery within a context of performance. Curriculum design is a way of linking instructional design across multiple audiences, topics and event, becoming a structured plan for organizational learning, and answering the question of who learns what, when and how. In this article, Kaufmann discusses how curriculum architectures can be used to address design and implementation issues in workplace learning, providing a plan for response to changes, initiatives, and growth with clarity of purpose and continuity.
