Abstract	The Breakthrough High Schools (BTHS) project involved 25 high schools nationwide, each with a student population of at least 50% under-represented minority students and a minimum of 50% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price meals. And yet, at least 90% of all their students graduated from high school and were accepted into a postsecondary education program. By using a continuous improvement model anchored by data analysis, consensus building, and purposeful professional development, BTHS has been able to translate its research on high school reform into concrete student results. The goal--student achievement--is always in view, and specific strategies are measured and modified if results are not achieved. This article discusses the key to BTHS' accomplishment--making school personal, relevant, and collaborative. (ERIC).
