Abstract | The market economy and education is a hot topic in today's education circles and has been relevant to the country's academic and sociopolitical environment since the end of the 1970s. Discussions on "truth criterion" in the theoretical circle and discussions on the essence and attributes of education in the educational circle prepare the ideological premise for the subsequent discussions on the commodity economy, market economy, and education. This discussion also ties into people's understanding of the market economy. Due to the extremely extensive and profound effect of the establishment of the socialist market economy on education, the contents of relevant studies are rich, touching on all levels and fields of education. This article proceeds from the perspective of the basic theory of education and examines research in recent years on how education should fit in the market economy, and especially the viewpoints and controversy over the commercialization of education, marketization of education, and commodification of education. This article reflects the divergent theoretical viewpoints and the ways they have been expounded. (ERIC). |
