Abstract	This article talks about the first-ever Texas Conference on School Libraries on April 6, 2005 that was attended by one hundred thirty-five school administrators and trustees. The miniconference, entitled Strong Libraries, Strong Scores, was held at the Austin Hilton, Austin, Texas during the Texas Library Association's Annual Conference and was modeled after First Lady Laura Bush's 2002 White House Conference on School Libraries. The guiding principle for both conferences was to provide a forum for school administrators and trustees to learn from national leaders how library media specialists and library media centers can effectively raise the level of student achievement. As a result of Strong Libraries, Strong Scores, participants are more knowledgeable about the effects of good library media specialists and good library media centers on student achievement. Furthermore, the conference succeeded because of the combined commitment of library media specialists and school administrators in Texas, outstanding presenters, and the generous supporters who helped make it possible.
