AbstractA correlated science lesson is characterized as an integrated science lesson in that it may incorporate traditionally integrated activities and use math as a tool. However, a correlated math-science lesson also: (1) has the pertinent math and science objectives aligned with state standards; and (2) teaches parallel science and math ideas equally. In this article, the authors provide suggestions for correlating science and math in the classroom: (1) Find a math teacher partner to work with; (2) Choose a science concept; (3) Teach the science concept to your math partner; (4) Identify the pertinent math concepts; (5) The math teacher teaches the math concepts to the science teacher partner; (6) Co-develop the correlated lesson; and (7) Decide the mode of instruction. Obstacles and benefits of correlating science and math are also discussed. (ERIC).
