Abstract | In this article, the author describes seven movement-related areas of cognitive neuroscience research that will play key roles in shifting the current behavioral orientation of teaching and learning to an orientation that also incorporates cognitive neuroscience discoveries. These areas of brain research include: (1) mirroring system; (2) plastic brain; (3) arousing phenomena; (4) hemispheric specialization; (5) arts and humanities; (6) multiple intelligences; and (7) conscious learning. He also suggests school leaders to become acquainted with them through the emerging literature and begin to informally explore their potential educational applications. (ERIC). |
