Abstract | Canadian educators are increasingly worried about their country's position as a destination of choice for international students, according the annual conference of the Canadian Bureau for International Education. The bureau added that Canada has dropped out of the top five preferred countries as a place to study. Over all, the number of international students in Canada has increased slightly, but educators worry that the trend could change. Officials noted that changes in the recruitment system is needed to catch up with other countries. The author concludes that organizations should join forces with Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, the country's largest trade and industry association, to help raise Canada's higher-education profile.
