Abstract | This article presents a framework for planning professional development opportunities to increase teachers' confidence and competence in supporting young children's social-emotional development and addressing challenging behaviors. The framework makes use of a comprehensive collection of training materials developed by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning to help teachers address the social and emotional needs of all children in their care. Early childhood programs can individualize this process based on the unique needs of the staff, families, and children they serve. Staff members will feel more confident and competent in helping young children learn appropriate behaviors that support their development and learning now and in the future. (ERIC). |
