Abstract | In this article, the author discusses playdough. Playdough is a staple play material in the early childhood classroom which provides enjoyable and satisfying experiences for young children. But, it is not merely a "fun" activity, it also provides valuable hands-on, active-learning experiences and supports children's growth and learning in many domains. The author states that, experiences using playdough cover so many areas of learning and development that it is a useful tool for addressing early learning standards in the classroom. Learning occurs in social, emotional, language, physical, and cognitive domains, helping to provide children a solid foundation for future schooling. Furthermore, she states that through this medium teachers can address early learning standards and observe children's progress in many areas of development. (ERIC). |
