AbstractTo be successful in nursing courses, students must be able to read and comprehend a large volume of information. This requires different types of reading and study skills from other courses to which they have been exposed. The formal teaching of these skills in a nursing course takes second place to the teaching of required nursing skills. Because nursing teachers are not academically prepared to teach reading and the related skills, they have no knowledge of what to do or how to do what is needed. The purpose of this article is to provide nursing faculty with a brief overview of the kinds of activities that they can use to help their students to improve their reading and study skills. (ERIC).
