Abstract | It is important to appreciate differences in perspectives in order to gain an understanding of others. Teachers can foster the disposition of perspective-taking among students by engaging them in learning opportunities that allow them to discover and reflect on the similarities as well as the differences among people of the world. Such activities can help students build their knowledge of the world while supporting their development of critical and creative thinking and skills related to research. The author discusses how he often challenges his students to find out about other parts of the world. For example, the colors, shapes, and sizes of everyday phenomena and objects are different in various parts of the world. This article gives examples of the questions and activities he uses.
