Abstract | Questions whether quality assurance procedures in higher education are indeed fit for the environment of the new millennium. Following discussion of the international context, focuses on the activities of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in the United Kingdom. Argues that much of the recent emphasis of the QAA has been on compliance and that such an approach is not necessarily conducive to quality enhancement. (EV) |
