Abstract | Addresses the Singlish-standard English debate in terms of discourse resources and the politics of language planning in Singapore, especially for the Singlish speaker. Examines media reports, official statements, and letters to local newspapers and considers the implications of this debate for Singaporeans and their participation within society.
