Abstract | Surveyed college students to determine whether individuals' work goals and the perceived goal affordances of given careers were related to the perceived interestingness of career alternatives and subsequent likelihood of career pursuit, focusing on mathematics and science careers. Overall, the real or anticipated experience of interest was a critical influence on career choice for both males and females. (SM) |
