Abstract | The National Staff Development Council's Results-Based Staff Development for the Middle Grades Initiative searches for staff-development programs that succeed by tying staff development to student learning. This paper describes the initiative and explains how most programs fail to achieve this link. Four sidebars review various programs, most of which do not link staff development to achievement. (SM) |
