AbstractThe role of secondary teacher education programs in preparing teachers for the needs of limited-English-proficient students was examined by questioning 5 experienced English-as-a-Second-Language and 6 regular classroom teachers in a 250,000-person school district. Findings regarding instructional adaptations, language/content integration, language acquisition, and parental involvement suggest a need for better preparation of all teachers.
