Abstract | This article makes a case for foundational studies within the teacher education curriculum, presents an overview of neoconservative education reforms, discusses how these reforms reveal a dominant form of rationality characteristic of our time and how this rationality influences teacher education, and introduces an ecological metaphor as a paradigm for foundations.
