Abstract | This study analyzed commercials from Saturday morning cartoon programing. A majority (60.6 percent) were for food products, and of these 13.8 percent dealt with enhancement of appearance. This group of commercials featured female narrators, characters, and consumers disproportionately. The research offers support for the possible influence of commercials in the differential rate of eating disorders in males and females. (MYM) |
