| Abstract | Findings from studies on parental involvement in schools reveal that (1) programs such as home/school tutoring and parent advisory councils promote academic achievement; (2) parents who lack knowledge do not necessarily lack interest in education; (3) parent roles can include school employee or volunteer, adult learner, or decision maker; and (4) teachers benefit from communication with parents.
