Abstract | This qualitative case study examined the role of peer support in the college success of high school equivalency (HSE) students. While many students complete HSE credentials with postsecondary hopes and intentions, few studies have investigated how to effectively support HSE students on their pathways to and through postsecondary education. This study found that participants relied on organic peer support networks that were established in their HSE program while in college. Further, the HSE program functioned as both a launching pad and a home base that served as the foundation of their success. The findings of this study highlight many promising practices that HSE programs may utilize to create and nurture these relationships and networks. (As Provided). |
