Abstract | Coaches require support to successfully navigate the integration of professional, interpersonal and intrapersonal knowledge to be effective within their environment. There is a need for coaches to have access to, and utilization of, a practical tool to identify and appraise elements of their coaching delivery. There is a wealth of literature on the role of coaches, development of a coaching philosophy, and the importance of the athlete-coach relationship. However, understanding and refining this research to assist in constructing meaningful heuristics that can support coaching delivery and decision making is not a strength for all coaches. Support for coach decision making within their environment(s) is important, especially for those operating without the guidance of mentors or support coaches to provide peer feedback.
