Abstract | The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of mindfulness training on stress, mindfulness, and life satisfaction in accounting students. Eighty-eight students participated in a randomized control trial conducted at a Midwestern university comparing students who went through a mindfulness training program called Daata Meditation (DM) with students in a control group. A Split Plot ANOVA found that the students who went through mindfulness training showed reduced stress, increased mindfulness, and increased life satisfaction. A Process Model Regression Analysis (PMRA) further showed that these results are moderated partially by intensity of mindfulness practice. The results of this study indicate that mindfulness training can be a valuable tool in increasing accounting student success and as a potential solution to ameliorate the high levels of stress prevalent in accounting careers.
