Abstract | Staff participation in professional development is critical for the success of divisions of student affairs and institutions of higher education at large. However, mandating participation can lead to adverse effects and hostile workplace climates. This study examined what individual and organizational culture factors predicted participation in voluntary professional development activities among 354 student affairs professionals at 14 public and private higher education institutions. Implications for higher education leadership and recommendations for best practice are discussed. (As Provided). |
