Abstract | The 2018 STEM Summer Camp was held on the campuses of a middle school in the Southeast. Students from Title I schools across the district were invited to take part in the month-long STEM program, focused on advancing content competency through Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, and STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) Inquiry. Program teachers and administrators included pre-service educators who had been teaching 1 year or less, and mentor teachers and administrators who had experience in working with Title I populations. This paper explores the process of organizing a STEM Summer Program engaging students from Title I schools with the goal of bridging the gap between grades to combat summer attrition.
